Alligator Records released the Alligator Records 40th Anniversary Collection to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the famous long-lived record label. The album consists of two CDs and presents 38 great songs (over 157 minutes of premium blues music) and quitar works of the Alligator Records’ early artists.
The list of the artists’ includes names like bluesman Hound Dog Taylor, vocal volcanoes in blues music Koko Taylor and The Holmes Brothers, guitar lord Albert Collins, Son Seals, Eddy “the Chief“ Clearwater, Tommy Castro featuring “Backup Plan” from his “Hard Believer” album, brilliant Anders Osborne with “Echoes Of My Sins,” and guitarist Michael Burks with his “Strange Feeling.”
The album also features blues singers Shemekia Copeland, Lil’ Ed, The Blues Imperials, Janiva Magness, JJ Grey & Mofro, and many others.
In the accompanying 30-page booklet of the Alligator Records 40th Anniversary Collection the founder of the famous record label Bruce Iglauer reveals that the blues music collection balances all blues genres. The booklet includes artist photos and a song-by-song commentary from the label boss, which creates in some sense an overall idea of that particular singer or song even if you have no information about him or his songs
